A Journey to Perfect Health

Recently I have been reflecting on what it means to be perfectly healthy. There are certain items that can be measured which would indicate someone is healthy, however it still doesn’t grasp the whole picture.

Someone could have the perfect blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI and blood work but on the verge of divorce and that would skew the idea of perfect health. On the flip side, there may someone who eats fast food every day, which would be labeled unhealthy, yet has his finances are in good shape and has the strongest and healthiest relationships you could find. I am not endorsing fast food by any means. The point I am trying to make is there are many different areas of health and they are all important.

You see to me, perfect health is being healthy in every aspect of your life. I am working towards that goal of perfect health. I don’t really think it is a goal you can ever literally check off the list but continually work towards. I want perfect health because I want to be healthy but if I am being honest, another reason I want perfect health is because I am a perfectionist. The other day I had a realization…I need to stop being a perfectionist to achieve perfect health. This means I have to allow some room for mistakes and not be stressed as I work towards perfect health. It seems contradictory in that I need to be okay with something that is unhealthy in order to be healthy. If I am stressed about doing all the things to be healthy, then I am working against myself.

It’s all about finding the right balance and that is where health is found.
